Surviving the bus rides

Often our bus rides are long and finding a place to eat lunch at noon may be a problem. We recommend that as we travel that you pack some  nutritious snacks like biltong (South African jerky), peanuts and raisins, fruit, etc., and some water. Students often get addicted to Magnum ice cream bars and Cadbury chocolate. They are tasty, but they will not take care of hunger pangs in the long term.

Some students bring a CD player or a book which is OK but this may interfer with watching the changing landscape or the people. Remember you need to be observant if you are going to make entries in your journals. Don't miss an opportunity to learn because you may never return to Africa.
