Complicated isn't it? This food web only contains 25 species. Most food webs are much more complicated than this, numbering in the hundreds to thousands of species. In the savannas of Costa Rica, there are over 11,000 species of plants alone, not counting the animals, fungi and bacteria. The savanna of the Serengeti is equally as complicated, although the number of species would be much smaller. Remember, the Serengeti has much drier seasons that do the tropical environs of Central America.
